Winter Storm & Nana’s Birthday celebration
2We got hit on 1/31/2008 by the 9th largest snow storm in recorded St. Louis history and the largest since 1993. The airport had 8.3 inches of snow and some of the suburbs ended up with close to 11 inches…The next day we had planned on a nice family celebration for my mom (Nana) and luckily everyone made it. Here are a few pictures, enjoy.
A Poor Christian…
1Ok, I’m going to try, at least once a week, to spill my guts on my life as a Christian. Something I have been meaning to do for years. I am one of the worst Christians if not the worst…many of you can count my sins. I will try to stay positive with this and hopefully someone can find encouragement in what I’m trying to do. I will beg, borrow and steal a lot of what I put in these posts and will endevor to walk with those that have questions…
To do all of this, you will have to understand how God controls my life and how I fight against him and fight to Love him. So, I will try and write down my Core Beliefs, Commitments and Convictions.
So, lets define what I mean by these:
Core Beliefs are truths I believe in absolutely (as absolutely as I can). In some cases these are things I struggle to believe in daily, but I still have my focus and faith on these as true. Life is a journey so these might change a little from time to time, but these are things that should be a foundation I totally count on. Also, I’m an engineer, so I can tend to analyze things a little too much. Don’t judge God on my poor life.
Commitments are the things I have committed my life to family, work, church…I’m actually commited to some bad things also. Your commitments should align with your core beliefs if not, that is when things get out of wack…For example, because one of my core beliefs is that Jesus Christ is God, I try to attend church to learn more about him. So, I am commited (although badly) to attending church and more specially attended and being commited to one church and building that relationship.
Convictions are kinda the weak version of a commitment. I might believe in something like human rights and I support human rights, but I might not do much about them, other then vote. I’m not commited to an action to support them. Convictions flow from my commitments.
In my mind, you should develop strong things you believe in (Core Beliefs), follow that up by actions (Commitments) and then explore everything else (Convictions). It is possible that a conviction can eventually become a commitment and then a core belief…especially when you are younger and not aware of real truth and love. For me my Core Beliefs are pretty much set and should define who I am and who God wants me to be. This is where it all falls apart…I often don’t do what I believe and know to be true.
Ok, this is enough for one post, I’ll define my Core Beliefs next time….comment away…
Que! Super Disk….at an incredible discount.
3Ok, Another item I have had for too long…Que! Super Disk. It is really cool, but I have never used it. USB, takes regular 1.44MB floppy and reformats to 32MB (also reads and writes 720KB and 1.44MB floppies). I tried it once and it worked. It also takes 240MB special disks, I have 5 of them in unopened wrappers….lets see…how about lets start with Free…any takers.
Oh yeah, you have to sign up for an account on my website and post a comment to bid on this item….bidding ends quickly.

Dear Family and Friends
2007 has been a great year! We hope our news brings you good cheer. We had many times full of fun, so now we begin with the “Lewis Sons.”
SEAN….is now a freshman in High School. His favorite activity is Skateboarding. He has won several competitions this year. Other activities he enjoys are, playing video games, hanging out with friends, and playing the violin.
SHANE..is now in the 7th grade. He enjoys reading, playing on the computer, video games, watching movies with his brothers, and plays the trumpet with great vigor.
KELLY….is now in 6th grade. He enjoys drawing, playing on the computer, watching movies, acting in plays at school, rollerblading, and plays the piano with great music to the ears.
The adults of the family have been equally busy which only adds to the Lewis frenzy. David and Jean celebrated 20 years of marriage together, Mexico provided many memories to treasure. There is still more wonderful news to share, maybe now you should take a chair.
DAVID..continues to work hard for Boeing where he manages software engineers. He loves his job. Sometimes he gets to travel to Seattle Washington as a get away from St.Louis busy life. In his spare time he enjoys the family, playing on his computer, and going out with “you know who.”
JEAN….continues working at DePaul Hospital as a charge nurse over two surgical units. It is trying at times but in the end the fulfillment and challenge make it all worth it. In her spare time she enjoys relaxation, family time, walking, watching movies, and spending time with “you know who.”
JACKIE..better known as NANA, continues to help the family survive. Without her it would be very hard to make it. When not busy helping everyone, she enjoys reading, exercising, gardening, and spending time with her best friend, Carolyn.
DIANE..has had a great year! She now works as PR representative for Nordstrom’s department store in west county of St.Louis. Her positive attitude makes her the perfect person for the job. In her spare time, she enjoys listening to music, relaxing, spending time with family, and playing with her gorgeous Persian Fiona.
If all of this has not been enough, the next bit of news will surely be rough! The Lewis family has expanded with pets, so now we have to love our vets.
BUDDY….Giant Schnauzer/Black Labrador (Male)
BABY……..Irish Wolfhound/Yellow Labrador (female)
SASSY……Grey Calico (Female)
CASSY……Black &White Calico (female)
FANG…….Zebra Tarantula (male)
FISH……….four Koi ranging in color from orange to speckled
………………………………………………..And A Partridge In A Pear Tree
We hope you have enjoyed our letter and pray your 2008 will be better than ever. Please have the merriest Christmas and a fabulous New Year.
In Christ’s name, Love,
